The problem
Wild Horizons Coaching & Leadership runs organizational assessments for volunteer-led community groups, such as community associations, agricultural societies, and recreation boards. Before this tool, producing an assessment report meant calculating scores by hand in a spreadsheet, then writing the entire report out manually into a Word template. Every report was a fresh, manual effort, which made the process slow and hard to scale beyond a handful of organizations at a time.
Before
- Scores calculated by hand in a spreadsheet
- Every report written out manually into a Word template
- Slow, and hard to take on more than a handful of organizations at a time
With the tool
- 30 scored questions across six categories, scored automatically
- Narrative and recommendations pulled from a content library Wild Horizons edits themselves
- A quick review step, then a finished PDF emailed to the respondent
What we built
The THRIVE Assessment Engine automates the full process.
- Respondents complete a scored online assessment: 30 scored questions across six categories, plus five open-text reflection questions.
- The system calculates category and overall scores automatically, and assigns the organization a stage in its development journey.
- A defined set of scoring rules identifies strengths, opportunities, and behavioral patterns.
- The right narrative content and recommendations are pulled from an editable content library that Wild Horizons can update without a developer.
- A full formatted report is generated and routed to Wild Horizons for a quick review.
- Once approved, it's produced as a PDF and emailed to the respondent.
Where it stands
The build matches the original spec and is functionally complete. It's currently in pilot testing to confirm scoring accuracy, report generation, and delivery all work correctly end-to-end before it goes live for real clients. This will be updated once the pilot wraps and initial client feedback comes in.
